So, welcome back to this podcast, which is currently being renamed and rebranded. So, this is our first episode of the Regulate Your Nervous System podcast. So, I'm very excited to introduce uh Brittany Wagner, who is a dear, dear friend of mine. And Brittany and I are launching a mentoring program teaching individuals how to regulate their nervous system. And Brittany has been absolutely instrumental in helping me to organize and put together some of these tools. She's an incredibly talented coach herself. She is so well versed in heart healing, in soul stewardship, and just walking alongside people with all the inner healing tools. And then together, the Lord has just brought us together to just create this whole new mentorship program that we are just super excited about. And so, Brittany, I just want to say thank you and welcome to the podcast and welcome to the business, essentially.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, yeah, and what an honor it is. And to be the first guest on the the newly revamped or um podcast. It's such a blessing and a privilege. So thank you.
SPEAKER_00:You're welcome. So previously, the Exalted Podcast, which its mission was really just to spread the hope of Jesus. And we are not straying from that, but we're expanding and niching down a little bit more. Um, what Exalted Health's goal has been from the beginning is to bring people closer to Jesus, but heal the wounds that they've been carrying, whether it's in their body, whether it's in their soul, whether it's in their spirit, that have separated them from Jesus, you know, what lies they're believing, et cetera. And as I've been on this journey the last handful of years, the Lord has really taught me so much more about the nervous system. Like I have, you know, an undergrad degree where I studied this in a lot of contexts, but he really just taught me how to steward the nervous system to bring peace, right? Because if we are out of alignment in spirit solar body, we know that then we're not walking in peace, right? Um, so I'm super excited. So, Brittany, I am so excited that you're joining me. And I just want you to share with anybody that's listening, like how applying some of these tools to your life has changed your life. Because I know that you've applied a lot of them.
SPEAKER_01:Yes, yes. And you know what I what I love about both of our stories is that we got into this work because it was what we needed from what we've gone through in our lives and what actually has has helped us. And so now we sort of feel led to to help others. But um, you know, by coming to you and actually experiencing some of the healing um that you helped me add a lot of body trauma as a part of my journey and my story. And it's um being able to have these tools has really helped me navigate when things come up, especially triggers. I was in a class and learning, learning something new, and they were talking about a lot of things that were trauma-based, and they didn't sort of prepare this the students well enough at the beginning. And when that class ended, I really I could still feel it. Like my body was still reacting from the traumatic stories that were being shared as a part of the class. Yeah. And your tools has have helped me. I was able to then work through that of how my body was actually triggered in the in the moments of the stories that were shared. Um, and the flashcards that you created, I was able to go through those flashcards and actually look through and pull out a couple of exercises that helped me work through the response that my body was having from these two stories.
SPEAKER_00:So that's amazing because yeah, I mean, you nailed it. Like I created all these tools because I've applied them to my life and I needed a way to teach other people how to use them, right? So that's so good. So we're gonna go over those in a couple of those in a second. But what I love the most about what you said is like, so when I started my business, for those of you who have never come to see me or maybe don't know a lot about exalted health, I was seeing people like one-on-one. That was that was the goal. And so a lot of people would come to me, they'd come to me with their wounds and things like that, and I'd get them for 60 minutes. And then the Lord works in that time. Don't get me wrong, he works, right? However, uh, the session would end and they'd go back out the door and they'd come back a lot of times the next month, and they would just kind of have a new pile of triggers of things that they were carrying that they didn't totally understand how to apply the tools to. And although I was trying to educate in that 60 minutes, it's really hard to like go deep with the Lord and heal some stuff and educate in 60 minutes, right? And so what I was finding was a lot of people were coming back every month and just kind of of setting their stuff on the table and being like, okay, here, Jen, I need you to fix it this time again. And so I realized there was a disconnect in what in the work that I was doing, and that I needed to help really educate people on how to apply a lot of these tools to their lives so they could walk out the freedom, right? Like it's not like we get healed, we go for a handful of healing sessions. At least this hasn't worked in my life, maybe it's in yours, Brittany. I go for a handful of healing sessions, and then everything's just good for the rest of my life, right? They're real tools that you have to continue to apply and work through. So yeah, that's such a fantastic point. So thank you for bringing that up. So, what is what were some of the tools that you applied in that moment that just really helped you?
SPEAKER_01:Um, there was an exercise like this where you look left and the butterfly. Yeah, that I practiced that one. Yeah. Um, that one really helped me. And then also just moving my body to get the trauma out. Like just, you know, kicking my legs and just sort of releasing that energy that was in my body because I could feel it. And I think that's a big part of like, I know you talked about some of the things I like to do with like soul stewardship and coming to be connected with your body is recognizing when your body is triggered. Because so often we shut those feelings down, we shut that voice down that's telling us, wait, I don't something feels off, right? It's labeled as anxiety, and then we just categorize it as, oh, it's just that, and then we move on. But our body's speaking to us, our body is telling us something is up, something's here. Like, like come pay attention to me, help me work through this. Because our body doesn't know how to work through it oftentimes and needs that help from us. And it's better to have a plan before you need it versus trying to figure it out in the midst of being triggered because we're not, you know, we're not always able to think logically and go through, oh, this is what I do. So it's really good to plan before you need it so that when you do, you have access to it.
SPEAKER_00:Such a great point. We forget everything we know when we're triggered. Yes, myself included. And that is why it's so incredibly important to do this in community, right? Because we have people around us. And I know I've relied on you even just a number of times being like, hey, I'm really struggling with this. I'm triggered by this. Will you just pray for me? Um, and it's amazing what just having even a little bit of coverage um does to start letting you think clearly and working through something when you have tools. Um, when you don't have tools, that's when we start to go into what I would call like crisis mode, right? Yes. And where we just kind of start to spiral, and all of a sudden our body's totally out of whack, our thinking or emotions are out of whack, and we feel like what in the world just happened? I just went back to step one.
SPEAKER_01:And we often go to those other coping mechanisms that may not be the best thing for us either, right? Those other things that sort of numb us out from the reality of what's transpiring.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. Disassociating, yeah, turning to substances. Like those are all things I've seen several of my clients do, right? Until they start actually facing what's going on. And you made such a great uh point, too, is like the body's trying to tell us, but we almost go through a process in our lives where we unlearn how to listen to our bodies, right? I think of really little kids um throwing temper tantrums when they're, you know, throwing their arms and their legs. And although society has taught us like that's not acceptable behavior, and in some ways, I understand that because we don't want to give in to you know that type of manipulative behavior. However, what their bodies are naturally doing is they're regulating themselves, right? Yes, and then as kids get older and we're expecting them to maybe uh sit still in church or sit still in school, and that they don't have autonomy over when they're allowed to move in a lot of those cases, right? They're just expected to sit still and when they don't comply, we want to medicate them instead of understanding that their body's telling them something along the way. And then we become older, you know, kids and teenagers and young adults, and all of a sudden we start to see anxiety and depression and all of these things popping up because they've been taught to ignore all of the signs and symptoms and warning signs that their bodies are giving them.
SPEAKER_01:Yes, 100%. I mean, I think of even my own story of when I was young, when I was having those moments, I would be put to my room by myself. Yep. So it taught me like, nope, you need to resolve this, like fix it. And then when you're okay, you come out of your room and you be a normal human being.
unknown:Right.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. And we're not taught how to work through those emotions. We're taught, we're taught that crying is bad. We're taught that, you know, uh emotional outbursts are bad. And and I'm not saying that it's okay to like be manipulative and be angry and yelling and mistreating people. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that when we are younger and those natural things are coming out, it's the body telling us that something needs to be processed and worked through. But I mean, how often do we hear adults telling kids, don't cry, stop being a baby? All of those things when crying is one of the most natural releases that there is. Think about how good and light you feel after a good cry. I mean, maybe not like right after, but maybe like 30 minutes later, right?
SPEAKER_01:Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_00:All of a sudden you're like, wow, all of a sudden something lifted because all of that was sitting right there on top of your nervous system and and had nowhere to go, right?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. And what a beautiful opportunity to teach kids how to work through that. You know, being sent to my room, I never knew. I never knew this was acceptable. It felt like unacceptable behavior, and you're not allowed to feel these things. Right. And then when you go to school, the focus is on the mind. So then it's like, no, your logic, your mind is important. That's the important thing. You ignore the body. So you're continuing to learn how to shut down your emotions, shut down what your body's trying to say to you, shut down the movement that it needs to be able to release what it's holding on to. And it it wreaks havoc on our bodies.
SPEAKER_00:It really does. And when we have wounds and chronic stress, on top of not knowing how to process things, just shoving them down over years and years, what we start to see is chronic illness. What we start to see is chronic anxiety, chronic stress, where people have been hardwired to not know how to deal with their stuff. And then it starts to come out in some other direction. And I know in my own story, I spent years and years going to different doctors and things. And then I did have some pretty serious stuff that popped up, but most of my symptoms, I spent years being prayed for for this autoimmune disease. I spent years going to doctors. And what I found is that actually I had worked through some of the deep stuff uh on the physical side. But when I got my nervous system regulated, when I learned, when I really started applying all this stuff to my life, almost all of those lagging symptoms that I was attributing to chronic illness or autoimmune disease, almost all of them disappeared. And which just will never cease to blow my mind. I mean, we're talking like 40 plus years of random symptoms that no doctor could pinpoint in a lot of the cases. Now I did have some serious stuff that you've probably if you've listened to any of my other podcasts, you know about. But most of those symptoms and my anxiety have disappeared when I learned how to regulate my nervous system, when I learned how to process and handle my emotions in a healthy way. And I'm not perfect, do not get me wrong. There's still times I have to apply these tools, man. But that's real life. Like, real life is never, ever gonna stop happening to us, right? Exactly.
SPEAKER_01:We're never gonna reach perfection either. Like that's not gonna happen.
SPEAKER_00:So no, no, it's I mean, until we get to heaven, it's not gonna happen. So okay, so why don't you tell me like what you're most excited about of like what this group could do for individuals that are just learning brand new how to apply a lot of these tools.
SPEAKER_01:Gosh, I what I love about this group is it's very holistic. It's looking at the nervous system, yes, but it's also what you talked about at the beginning, saying like we are interconnected. You can't have one area have a problem and not have it impact another area of your life. Like it's we're interconnected, it's just it's just gonna happen. And so what I love about this group is it's focused on regulating the nervous system, but it also looks at other areas too. Like, is there's other things going on in your soul that's gonna help that as well? It's it's it's kind of like I talked about at the beginning, it's giving you tools before you need it so that when you need it, you've got access to those things to be able to deal with it instead of the stuffing method, which I've done majority of my life up until my inner healing journey. Um, because that doesn't work, like Jen mentioned, right? It's it's gonna come out at some point, it's gonna come out in some way, and unfortunately, usually it's unexpected. Right. And in unhealthy ways, too, that that create more of a mess that you end up going back to. And a lot of times, too, a big layer that ends up being shame. Because then we shame ourselves for that behavior, and then we shame ourselves for our response. And all we're doing is applying more and more pain on top of our pain. And it's just it helps us actually get to the root and be equipped to be able to go through life with tools to be able to manage these things that are gonna inevitably happen. We're gonna get triggered.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, it's so good. It's so good because life is just it's not gonna stop happening. And if you've had 40 plus years like I did, of handling things the wrong way, in our in our you know, highest self-brain, we're like, oh, I should just be able to learn these tools and apply them, and then everything should be great. But in reality, there's a massive learning curve. Uh, there's a real enemy that doesn't want us free from this stuff and doesn't walking out, want us walking out the peace and the call that God has for us. And so there's gonna be some interference, right? Yeah, and it's so incredibly important to do this um alongside a community. Really, when we do things in community in any capacity, people are so much more successful. We feel so much more loved and seen and supported. And so I'm just ecstatic about um getting this program up and rolling. We did a soft launch here in August. Um, but when by the time this podcast airs uh in September, we will be in full force. So, what is like what is one thing you're just really excited about that you've already noticed um in your own life or any of your clients' life by applying some of these tools, Brittany?
SPEAKER_01:I I mean, I love what you touched on with community because the other thing is sometimes we're going through something and we feel like we're alone. And that's the enemy's point, right? He wants us to be isolated, like it's just us. We're the only ones that this happens to, so there must be something wrong with us. A classic lie of the enemy, there's something wrong with you, right? Right. Hear that in your voice in your head, there's something wrong with me. Um, but through this group, we're able to actually share, be real, be raw with our stories, be real with where we're at or what we're triggered by, and and and bring that to the forefront. And through that, too, I think there's there's opportunities for each person to be seen in a unique way because you get out of that. It's just me, I'm alone, there's something wrong with me mentality. And that that I'm really excited about to bring people in and just be able to be raw and real with one another and share the journey and the story because this life is a journey, and how great that we get to do it with other people. That's what we're created to do is be in community. So I'm really looking forward to that and excited for for the community aspect. I love that you brought that up because to me that's a great that's the yeah get to know other people and be real and raw with them as well.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, so good, so good. And I just um so for those of you who are listening, so Brittany will be coming on as an individual coach as well, because what we know is gonna happen um is as people start to work through things in a group, there's some things that they're just not gonna be comfortable with to bring to the full group, which is absolutely understandable. We all have our stuff that we just need to work through um one-on-one. And so Britney will be coming on, and she to begin with, she'll be starting to see people online. And this provides such an incredible asset because I am located in Cottage Grove. I see people in person and hands-on. So I'm really more focused on a lot of the body stuff, and then Brittany will be seeing people online, people that maybe aren't in proximity to Cottage Grove, Minnesota, right? And just don't have the time in their schedule to be driving that far to be seen, but they still want the support and the help. And Brittany is, although she's trained in all the body stuff, she's gone through my class, she's trained up in all that, she's also trained in several other things that she's gonna help apply. And those tools, a lot of those can be done online and still have the massive benefit. Now, a lot of the body tools can also be taught via online. It's just a little bit different because you're not having someone laying hands on you at the same time. But you know what? The Lord works, man. He works, and we've both seen it. We've seen people get healed in all types of ways. We've seen people just take leaps of bounds in their healing journey by coming alongside a community and doing it, um, and just being able to apply the individual tools. So we are really excited about this because my schedule has been full for a while, but there's still so many people out there that need help, and there's still so many people that needed to be trained in how to use and apply these tools. So, not only do we get that, we get the additional option of being able to see Britney one-on-one and work through things, and you can, you know, switch off who you're going to if you want some of the body stuff. If you want to just do online, we're gonna be really flexible with that, at least when we're getting started, if we have to just shore up some things as we go down the road. But I'm excited, Brittany.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I'm so excited. It's gonna be such an amazing group, it's gonna be such an amazing time. And the the tools, like I said, I can't say that enough. It's just great to have in your toolbook, tool belt before you need it. And that's really one thing that I can't stress enough because inevitably, when you start to do something new, no matter like you said, the enemy is gonna be against us and he's not gonna want us to move forward. So oftentimes we'll hit a wall, right? We're gonna hit a wall and we're gonna be like, I'm stuck. This is tough. And we're gonna be there. We're gonna be there to support you and and support along the way and in the journey, in the process of coming more healed and more connected with our bodies.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, so good. And the Lord, I mean, as soon as he dropped this in my heart, I knew it was time to hit the gas on it. So I'm just really grateful to have you alongside. Uh, for those of you that are listening. Like, I didn't just be like, oh, hey, Brittany will do. It was like, I want Britney on this team. The Lord has trained her up, He's equipped her, He's prepared her, and she is the perfect fit. So I'm really, just really thankful to have you. Just people are just gonna be so blessed by the gifts that you carry. Like, the world needs the gifts that you carry. So thank you for saying yes.
SPEAKER_01:Thank you. Of course, of course. And the world needs the gifts you carry. And like Jen mentioned, I did take her somatic body work certification training course, and that's also available as well, if that's something that you want to learn on how to um help others administer these tools, also.
SPEAKER_00:Yes, yeah, the Lord's just options. He's he's on the move, man.
SPEAKER_01:Amen. Amen.
SPEAKER_00:If any of you are interested in joining us for this mentoring class, um, you can find the link right in the show notes or go to my website, either one, um www.exaltedhealth.com. Um, and we'd be happy to have you join us. So thank you for joining us today and be blessed.
SPEAKER_01:Thank you.
